What is this new cattle mineral with fly control?
There is a mineral that has been used for a couple of years now on cattle called Granular Texas 12:12 Mineral with Altosid. Altosid is an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) that when fed to cattle will effectively control flies. This product passes through the animal and into the manure where horn flies go to lay their eggs. The active ingredient (Methoprene) then breaks the life cycle by preventing fly pupae from developing into biting adults.
This product will eliminate the labor, expense and stress on your cattle associated with sprays, dusts, and ear tags. There is no need to handle the cattle when using this product. It is added to something that they consume every day.
This mineral should be fed to cattle at the rate of 4 ounces per day for cattle weighing 1000 lbs. There is no need to feed salt separately because salt is also included in this product.
My quote of the week come from Albert Einstein. It reads, "If a cluttered desk signs an cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?
