Will all of this rain wash the lime or fertilizer or seeds off my fields?
In most cases, lime and fertilizer will dissolve into your soil with rain and you won't have to worry about any of it running off. There are some situations though that are different. Fertilizer spread on very steep slopes or areas that see flash floods may get carried off if there is enough water flowing to lift it off the ground. The same can be true of seeds. Since seeds are light and will not dissolve in water, they may get carried off in areas prone to flooding.
In most cases though, areas around here won't have a problem with this. If you feel that your area is prone to flooding or steep enough that heavy downpours will hurt, wait until there is a chance of light rain or wait until after a rain so there will be enough moisture in the soil to help germinate the seed or dissolve your lime or fertilizer.
My quote of the week comes from Richard Bach. It reads, "The more I want to get something done, the less I call it work."
