What kind of fertilizer can I use on my pasture and hay meadows?

If you haven't had a soil sample from your place this year, I would apply a blend.  Something like a 16-6-12 or 20-4-16 would be fine.  For every ton of hay you produce, it takes approximately 50 pounds of nitrogen 15 pounds of phosphorous and 42 pounds of pottasium.  So this is the ratio you should try to replace unless you have an overabundance of a certain nutrient which is why a soil sample is important.  Amounts per acre will vary depending on what you are trying to do.  Pastures can be spread at 200-350 pounds per acre depending on the number of cattle you are stocking.  Hay meadows can be spread at 300-500 depending on how much hay you need.
