What can I use to rid my place of spiders?
Spiders usually rank right up there with snakes to most people. It doesn't matter if they are poisonous or not, they just don't want to be around them. And everyone hates walking into a spider web. So what can we do to keep them away from the house? Spiders usually congregate where there is food present. Insects that frequent areas that can be easily caught in their web. So the first thing to consider would be eliminating the food source. If that doesn't get the numbers done to an acceptable level, there are other things you can do.
Insecticides: Sprays such as a product called Sniper work very well. Mix the 1 ounce container with a gallon of water and spray around the house, under sheds or anywhere spiders tend to congregate outside. Sniper also comes in a dust form if you want to apply it with a duster.
Vacuums: Vacuum cleaners and brooms are a great way to get rid of spiders and their webs.
Remember that there are only two native species in our area that are capable of inflicting harm to humans. The Brown Recluse and the Black Widow. Most other spiders are considered beneficial because of the insects they prey upon that will do damage to your house, garden or property.
My quote of they week comes from Stanislaw J. Lec. It reads, "When you jump for joy, beware that no one moves the ground from beneath your feet."
