TMD SEPT 16
How much seed do I need to plant per acre to get a good stand of grass.
There are so many seed that can be planted that it's hard to give one answer. So what we will do is go over the most popular fall seeds and their average amounts/acre.
Bermuda, unhulled...... ..20-25/acre
Bahia............................ 25-30/acre
Clover, Arrowleaf..........10-20/acre
Clover, Ball.....................2-3/acre
Clover, Crimson.............20-25/acre
Clover, Subterranean......16-20/acre
Clover, S-1......................5-10/acre
Fescue............................25-30/acre
Oats................................96/acre
Peas, Austrain Winter......25-40/acre
Rye, Elbon......................60-100/acre
Rye grass........................25-35/acre
Vetch, Hairy...................15-20/acre
Wheat.............................75-95/acre
Remember that these are the recommended rates if these seeds are planted alone. If they are mixed with others, the rates can be decreased.
My quote of the week comes from Erin Majors. It reads, "A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle."
