When is the best time to start feeding my cattle?

The Fall of the year usually means a transitional time for grasses in your pastures and hay meadows.  Days are getting shorter and most species of summer grasses are slowing down.  When this happens, much of the nutrients the grass produces will tend to head back down to the root system to get ready for dormancy and winter.  When you notice the grasses seeding out sooner than normal, this is usually what happens.  With the occasional cool nights and the lack of rain until lately, most grasses have gone through a stressful time and this will also make them seed out early and send the nutrients back to the root zone.
This being the case, I would consider some type of supplemental feeding.  The good thing about products like Sup-R-Lix liquid feed is you don't have to guess when the grass is lacking nutrients.  Cattle will keep their bodies in shape by supplementing their diet with Sup-r-Lix to compensate for the grass quality.  It takes the guess work out of your hands and gives it to the animal.  If the grass is good, the cow will not require a supplement and she will not eat it.  But when the grass starts to lose quality, the cow will make up for it with the liquid feed.  This keeps the herd in shape and keeps feed costs down.  And that is what you look for in a supplement.
My quote of the week comes from an unknown source.  It reads,"Motivation is what gets you started.  Habit is what keeps you going."
