Planting Information TP 10
When To Plant
In Texas (and other southern locations), Purina Mills texas Perfect 10 should be planted during the fall, as soon as enough soil moisture is available for seed germination.  The blend is designed to take advantage of the Texas fall rains that traditionally occur on a seasonal basis during September and October.  Texas perfect 10 should be planted before rains occur, and covered with 1/4 inch of soil to protect the seeds from drying out.  Following a rain, rapid germination and growth will ensue and typically last into the dry summer months of the following year.

How To Plant
1.  For best results, apply lime and fertilizer as recommended by a soil test (visit www.mossyoakbiologic.com and click on BioLogic soil test or see your local county extension agent or come by Davis Feed if you are in the area.
2.  If a soil test cannot be performed, apply one ton of lime and an appropriate amount of a regional fertilizer blend per acre.
3.  Purina Mills Texas Perfect 10 will perform best when planted in a firm, well prepared seedbed.  It is easily planted using a seed broadcaster and then lightly covered with soil at a depth of 1/4 inch.
4.  The use of a cultipacker or a common drag is an excellent method to cover the seed.  Disking is not a recommended way to cover the seed as this process can bury the them too deep to allow for germination.
5.  If rain is imminent, no coverage is needed as the rain serves to bury the seed to the appropriate depth and ensures there is adequate soil moisture for germination.

Important
1.  A food plot seed program is only as effective as the management practices.  Actual results can vary depending on soil quality, soil pH, soil moisture, soil temperature, fertilizer application, lime application, environmental conditions such as rainfall levels and the quality of the management practices.
2.  Best used along with a Purina Mills AntlerMax Deer Chow supplemental pellet feeding program.
