Is it time to treat for grass burs?
It's that time of year again. Grass burs will be coming in March so February is usually the ideal time to put down a pre-emergent.
Chemical controls that work well include Hi-Yield Crabgrass Control. If you can't find any, try Balan or Treflan granules. Natural products that work well include corn gluten meal and humate granules.
Once you see the seed thought, you know it's to late. If you forget or wait to late to put out the pre-emergent, try spot treatments with Roundup or Finale but be careful. These products are non-selective herbicides. The will kill any grasses that it comes in contact with. Spot treatments should be done with precision. Maybe even with a roll-on type of applicator.
My quote of the week comes from a Turkish proverb. It reads, "Who gossips to you will gossip of you."
