How do I need to prepare my soil for sprigs?

The first thing we need is a soil sample.  This will tell us how much lime, if any, is need to add before disking.  Ideally you would like to see your PH between 6.5 and 7.  Bermuda can tolerate lower PH's but it doesn't perform as well.  A soil sample  will also tell us what kind of fertilizer is needed to add to the soil before planting. Fertilization can be done with a blend like a 5-10-15 or a 10-20-20 at 300-500 pounds/acre.
If a soil test is not done, then we will have to estimate what is needed.  With soils in our area, lime is usually always needed.  Lime before you disk so that disking will incorporate it into the soil.  The average rate is one ton per acre.  Fertilization that can be done before disking or planting will also reach the roots sooner and give them a better start.
My quote of the week comes from Plato.  It reads, "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something".
