What can I spray on my garden to kill the grass and get it ready to plant?

There are a few products you can use to kill unwanted plants in your garden before you plant. Two products that are popular in our area are Finale™ and Roundup®.  Here is a little information on both.
Roundup= Works best when daytime temperatures are above 60 degrees and winds are calm, complete kill in 7-14 days, replant time is will vary from 1 day(carrot, turnip and a few other seed) to 30 days(tomato transplants) after application, rain after two hours will not wash off product.
Finale= kills in 1-4 days, replant time is 4 days after application, can be used around shrubs and trees, will break down into natural compounds, has no soil residual activity, coverage rate is 3 times more than roundup, rain after 4 hours will not wash off product
There are other products that can be used but these two seem to work best. Remember, to follow label directions, spray on calm days to reduce drift and if you have unwanted weeds in plants already growing, use Finale with a wipe on application like a rag or wick to target a specific plant.
